In our group, we study the pillar[n]arene family that was first synthesized in 2008. (1) We were able to demonstrate the usage of water-soluble pillararenes as highly potent antibiofilm agents, (2) as xenon sensors in water and as hosts able to complex and extract different guests.(3) Additionally, we investigate the ability of pillararenes to form unique supramolecular organogels (4) as well as new supramolecular water-soluble boxes that are based on hydrogen bonds and their interactions with different guests.(5)
